a new toy

well this is amazing.
i thought – now that i’m a teacher – i need something practical to carry my files from home to school instead of burning them on a cd, emailing them to myself or carrying my ibook to school.
so i bought one of these USB-memorysticks with 128mb capacity.

today it was in the mail and i have to say i was truly surprised how small this thingy is (good there was a little hand-leash included :-)

it’s about the size of my pinkie .

PS: and don’t be surprised that it says USB 2.0 on it. it was the cheapest one on ricardo.ch and it works like a charm on my oldfashioned vanilla-flavoured USB-port :-)

fun link

i’m not shure if these guys make fun of themself, but their page is quite useful, if you’re looking for some little experiments for school (which is what i’m doing extensively at the moment :)

they also have a little part which is a bit more esoteric

alleycat in bern

if you see some freaks on bikes driving around bern like mad on friday night, then you know it’s an alleycat1 organised by bene and me :-)
so, if you see one of the messengers (sometimes after 10pm) then cheer and shout and watch your back for more reckless drivers!

1 Alleycat: not on a closed course held race in a city, organized by bikemessengers. Usually with several checkpoints and not caring about traffic rules. As far as known, the first alleycats known as such took place in toronto, Canada.

this entry can be omitted…

…if you haven’t been at the lerbermatt-gymer :-) (probably all my blog-readers exept B., Miklos and Arni)
as you might have heard, i’m the substitution teacher of hans kammer (MC of Physics!) at that high school we all were.
and this morning was the teacher conference to the start of the semester. when i walk towards the building, guess who’s watching out of the window: Ändee Jöhl and Dieter Gilgen. They both look a bit puzzled and then. start. to. wave. their. hands. oh joy :-)
this is gonna be a fun semester.

i only say:
stuwi chäschüechli w
schul-hans-werker
seehung
nikkelti
sirup …
willi ä
hc-senn

aaaaah, those were the days…

for those of you which have no idea what i’m talking abuut: i’m a substitute teacher at the high-school where i went to school 7 years ago, and most of the teachers that i had lessos with are still there, which amounts to a serious funkyness…

8 years ago this week, Microsoft launched the war between the browsers (was there any other than netscape back then) with the release of the first version of the Internet Explorer.

guess who won the war?
but there are still some fighters left (at least on windows-platforms)

on os x microsoft stopped the development of IE, because they had to admit, that apple has a more advanced product: safari (mostly because they knew how to tie it into the OS :-)

streetparade

i’m really happy i stayed at home and didn’t go to the streetparade, and went for a swim instead :-)

i was actually looking for a pic of the pair wich was in the sonntagszeitung today (page 6 for those who have it at hand), but couldn’t find it online, so i finally made a pic of the newspaper with my digicam.

the guy with the adilettens is abso-f***ing-lutely funny!!!
(i had a little conversation with jacky in the eichholz today, that adiletten are a no-go out of showers, wardrobes and toilets…)

REMARK: I have absolutely nothing against people which get a kick out of cross-dressing or wearing fetish-wear or stuff like that. i just can’t get it that so many people have to completely freak out once a year and then live on with their 5 days a week, 9 to 5-lives – boring like it was and like it will ever be without that parade.
–> make your whole life fun, not only that one day!!!

guerillia tactics is the right way!

i’ve just seen the new alien ant farm-video on viva: these days. (alien ant farm are known for a punked up version of michael jacksons smooth criminal).
it’s extremely cool. those guys hijacked the audience on the “Black Entertainment”-Awards, amazing all the people there (lil kim, 50 cent, snoop dogg, etc. etc.). they performed their new single on the rooftop of a house across the entrance to the BET. they managed to play their song three times before the police made it to the roof and arrested all of them.
the quality of the video is not extremely good, but i really like the anarchistic idea behind it, to not care about anything to make a funny video -> guerillia style :-)

HABinvasion

how nice!
now everyday i step out of my house, i see myself cheating :-)

The campaign for Swiss Meat which i modeled started again.
As Bärni pointed out, i’m a vegetarian (strict since about four years, loose one since longer time), but i look like a happy meat eater on these pictures.
So if you see one of these ads, then you know that it’s just an ad and not a true situation :-)

By the way, check out some other works by Franziska Frutiger, the photographer which made these pics, she sports some pretty nice pictures on her website (you might recognize some other shots from ads (swisscom and a campaign for the chemical industry in switzerland).

PS: I’m the one in the orange jumper…

Test

Azure-test

  1. one
  2. two

Update:

this was a test i made with Bärni to see if Azure works.
Because we found out that none of the versions of Blogplanet worked….
Today B. also bought the T610 wich led to a one-hour fire-conversation about themes, bluetooth, midi-files, and mms-settings :-)

panorama software

does someone of my fellow blog readers know a good panorama stitching software for OS X?
i’m currently using LM Stitch, which is a software which just keeps working in demo mode (as opposed to the Stitcher EZ from Realviz which refuses to work after 30 days).
But the problem with LM Stitch is that the UI is really awkward and not very useable.
Any suggestions are more than welcome. I would really like to use the Pano-Tools, but Adobe Photoshop is just too much for my wallet!

The image below is just a 3 minutes hack of a little panorama from images i made this past weekend in silvaplana (b/w because of the demo-version):

stuff and fun link

  • silvaplana was so great, that bruni bought a kite and a board from a guy that was up there.
  • todays fun link is sponsored by the friends of folk music. (i saw a sticker with that link on the back of some guys motorcycle today…)
  • azure works only a little bit. i managed to post while on the train, but not while on the camping in silvaplana and on the beach at the lake. so still some work to do to get a 1.0 version…

Test

This is the test. I’m in the train to the mountains and blogging away on my mobile.
So azure seems to work :-)

my weekend

i’m gonna be in silvaplana at the lake this weekend.

Bruno () is there on the camping since monday and i’m going there later this afternoon.
We’re gonna try out that fancy thing called kite surfing (or kite sailing).

ETA back in Bern is on Monday so expect no news until then (unless i manage to get Azure working on my mobile…)
