the war of the worlds ecomic has been loitering around in my netnewswire-tabs [1] for some months now. every now and then, the darkhorse-team has been releasing a few new pages of their adaptation of the novel by h. g. wells.

google earth for os x
yesterday i read on fscklog.com, that there’s a leaked version of google earth for os x in the wild. and today the uaw posted a link to macupdate.com, where you can download an unofficial beta release of the program. it works nicely on my mac, but your mileage may vary, and keep in mind that this is not an official release, so it might contain stuff you don’t want, i’ve warned you…
it worked for me, but may not for you. the faint of heart just wait ’till google officially releases it.

ich spiele wieder einmal im theater an der effingerstrasse in einem stück mit.
dieses mal trete ich als kellner auf die bühne des kleinen aber feinen theaters.
das stück “wo die liebe hinfliegt” ist eine komödie in anlehung an den film “jetlag – oder wo die liebe hinfliegt“.
wir spielen von nächsten dienstag, den 6. dezember bis zum 5. januar fast jeden abend.
die genauen daten findest du auf der seite des theater an der effingerstrasse (www.dastheater-effingerstr.ch > aktuell [1]).
tickets können direkt beim theater reserviert werden (leider noch nicht übers internet, sondern nur über die telefonnummer 031 382 72 72 und zwar von montag bis freitag, von 14.00 bis 19.00 uhr.)
es würde mich freuen, wenn ihr zu besuch kommt.
da ich während der vorstellung keine chance habe, im zuschauerraum etwas zu erkennen, schreib mir doch eine kurze nachricht, wenn du kommst, dann können wir nach dem stück zusammen noch was trinken gehen, da hier in den kommentaren geht auch.

as in the last two years nina and me went to the polyball in zürich. it was a blast, although we couldn’t dance that much this year ’cause ninas back ached a bit after an hour of salsa :-)

critical mass in bern
someone [1] is organizing a critical mass in bern at the 6th of december. if you’d like to take part, come and show up on the bundesplatz at 18:00. i’ll be there, and hopefully a lot of others too (do you remember the critical mass after the suicmc04? it was so great!)
We aren’t blocking traffic; we are traffic.

qr coded gloves
this afternoon i went to buy some gloves (it’s getting cold at work you know :-).
coming home i noticed that they have a normal label and a supplementary qr code (german) sewn into them. since i couldn’t find a decoder for os x (the java-version of the one urs [1] found doesn’t work for me), i kindly ask the blogosphere if they can decode it for me.
i’m just wondering what adidas is writing in my gloves.

burning highway
picture of the week 44
this weekend we had the berner schwimmtage, a two-day swimming event, including the sprintnight, which was absolutely fabulous (see some more pictures here or here). chantal cavin [1] swam a new world record for disabled swimmers, a lot of swimmers swam new meeting records and even more swam new personal records [2].
besides coaching my team i also found time to shoot a quick and dirty panorama of the indoor pool hirschengraben. it’s a shot i stitched from 12 images i took freehand on the gallery of the pool, stitched with hugin and converted to a qtvr using makecubic. so, if you click on the thumbnail below you should get a 1.8mb big .mov-file in which you can zoom and pan around [3]. if you prefer a flat image, then you should step over to flickr and look at the panorama as a .jpg.

there’s been cooking something for quite a long time, now everything seems to be going along really fine.
jan, nick, matthias and urs [1] fixed a date and set up a website/blog for it, so more infos will come along soon i guess!
