new mobile phone

i has got me a new mobile phone. it is supposed to be able to do video calls via UMTS. the person in the sunrise-shop that sold me the phone told me that it is possible to make videocalls between all the swiss providers, but contrary to that it doesn’t work. i know three people with an UMTS-video-enabled mobile phone, and none of them is provided by sunrise.
any of my readers want to ring me up, so i can try a video call? my number can be found on tel.search.ch. just search for my surname (haberthür) and the profession “rockstar” (really!) and give me a ring, so we can try seeing each other!

his newest project as a designing architect is online: the foldschool – cardboard furniture.

since ages he’s made plans and models (filling the shopwindow in his studio), now everything is online, functional and looking good.

if you have kids [1], or are keen about cool mechatronic furniture-design this if for you!
you just need some scrap cardboard and the printed patterns from nicola, some time and probably a lot of glue. then you have uber-cool looking furniture with which the kids can play as the want. if they destroy it, you just build a new one with them. and even your conscience stays clean!

i you can’t quite figure it out how it looks, he even provides you with a 3D-model of the stool, chair and rocker.

and yes, he’s all over the web already and even got BBed!

picture of the week 10

quite some time ago (for my birthday actually) i got a voucher for a weekend in the snow with a big surprise from my love. this weekend we finally managed to find a weekend with snow and free time. in the end it turned out that she planned a weekend on the bettmeralp for skiing and some wellness in the hotel bettmerhof. the weather was absolutely gorgeous and also the slopes were really good.
the whole weekend was already a surprise for me, so i was not expecting something special when we went for a drink after hitting the slopes. only after the prinoth everest power [1] parked for quite a long time besides us i got a bit suspicious on what nina planned for the big surprise. you might not know that i’ve always said that it’s a little dream of me to ride with one of those machines – throttle fully open – on a skiing slope…

nina actually managed to get us a ride in a snow cat. in the end we rode a bit more than an hour with the guy who answered all my questions. it was very cool, those machines have a rather impressive power when going uphill. if you want to see what it looks like in a snowcat, you can see the images i took on flickr, or even watch a little movie on youtube…

on sunday the weather was again marvelous (as you can see from the images in the full set). when standing on the bettmerhorn the view on the aletschgletscher is absolutely breath-taking. the image below is a panorama stitched from 9 images showing the glacier from its beginning on the left to the ever shortening end (and a nearly blinded nina on the right).

wie jeden ersten montag im monat fand auch heute der blgmndybrn im domino statt.
dabei waren diesmal

gesprochen haben wir über einiges; vieles eher insidermässig, aber immer mal wieder kreisen die themen um spam, phpBB, selbstprogrammierte fotoalben [2], die wikipedia als zitierbares medium, herr löis projekt, sellout im zusammenhang mit blogs/bloggers an der hand nehmen, bezahlten content sowie digg-votes, 42, 43folders, stickkit und einiges mehr…

diesmal war der gadgetfaktor für einen blgmndybrn erstaunlich niedrig, olivier hat mit seinem leistungsfähigen [1] handy notizen gemacht, ansonsten wars eher weniger gadgety..

das nächste mal kommt bald, wer kommt dann auch noch?

[1] eigentlich wollt ich ja potent schreiben, denk aber, dass das dies etwas unpassend zur beschreibung: die gruppe ist “zumeist an einigen MacBooks oder spätestens am Tisch wo keine Frauen sitzen” wäre…
[2] mussten wir heute nachmittag programmieren, mein lieblingsbild (alle ohne irgendwas zu überlegen via google geklaut!) ist das hier…
