picture of the week

finally i can link to this post on bild.li, because the picture of that photo-shooting is now available:
about a month ago i spent a day in biel with about 40 other people. franziska frutiger took pictures of us, and now the result looks like this:

swisscom

the original picture can be seen on the page of swisscom mobile or on franziskas page (no direct link, because she uses a nifty flash-interface, but if you click on “new”, then you can see the full ad).
just make sure you don’t mistake me with my doubleganger, i’m the one in the back row, not the one with the che guevara t-shirt…

picture(s) of the week

since the swiss farmers lately informed me on the radio that the swiss strawberries are here and that they’re sweet and gorgeous and stuff like that i could hardly resist to buy some on friday. but the farmers must have some really strange fertilizers, because one of the strawberries was huuuuuge!
see for yourself:

ps1: the first picture doesn’t do her justice, nina is much much prettier IRL!
ps2: just for the record: if you want to be informed about the prices for slaughter cattle every friday afternoon, you can get a free sms-newsletter from the swiss farmers (sorry, only availiable in switzerland).

yeehaw! (picture of the week)

osxhints made that little hint on Descent2, that has brought me back to old ages.
if you’ve never played descent2, then you don’t need to bother actually clicking on the link, but if you spent countless hours in front of a glooming monitor trying to master your spaceship while zapping through complicated tunnels and blasting the enemies with CONCSN MISSILE’s, then you absolutely need to!
i think Descent2 was the best 3d-mission game, i remember playing it for hours (i think that was actually one of the few computer-games i played more than two times or so, i never was a gamer…). i cannot wait to actually finish a level and be blasted out of the mother-spaceship.
miklos and b. do you remember?
flashback ahoi!

picture of the week

yesterday, urs, simu and me went to winterthur, because the guys from staffel x made an alleycat.
this is what it looks like if you cram three guys with their bikes and baggage in a twingo:

oh, and by the way, i’ve won that alleycat. pity for me that i didn’t go to the last alleycat in basel, because there i could have won a bikeframe, this time the winner got a cap (not even from the staffel x, but from veloexpress) and a beer (and i don’t like beer, so i could change that to a bottle of coke) :-(

this week it’s actually not a picture of the week, but a movie of the week.
today a friend of mine visited me, because her laptop was unable to connect to the intaweb.
after some probing i found out that she must have gotten a virus, which clogged her connection to the net, spewing itself out to all the people in her address-book.
so i decided to install a free antivirus software for her (downloaded that excellent software to my mac, transferred and installed it on her pc) and scanned for viruses, since her norton-antivirus refused to work (also because of the multiple viruses she caught.
on the first run the software found 1500+ infected files, cleaned them, but refused to finish its process. on the second run (after a reboot) it found 5000+ infected files. the scanner can be configured to make an audible beep each time a file is cleaned, so you get that funky soundeffect in the file below (3mb .mpg-file).

oh, and by the way, barbara already regrets that she switched the wrong way (from mac os 9.x to winXP) :-)

this friendly door looks like weebl and bobs big brother, don’t you think?
if you’re the first person to guess where this picture was taken i pay you a beer, be it real or virtual :-)
hint: the picture was taken yesterday. i spent the whole day in zürich, so this might narrow down your guessing possibilities a bit…

picture of the week

i’ve been thinking about posting a picture per week for a really long time, and with the picture below i want to start that series. (kind of like the way jeremy hedley does). my pictures will probably never reach the artistic potential of the one’s he posts, nonetheless i’ll try to share some pictures i like with you
the picture below was this afternoon in the rosengarten here in bern.
hidden behind the tree is the cathedral, the mother on the right side of the tree was telling her kid stories for the whole time i was sitting there (around two hours) which i thought was really nice.
