today i had a funny conversation with my own personal smarter child. i read about it in the latest wired and must say it’s really fun. just add Smarterchild to your AIM-buddylist (or ichat) or add 35000 on your ICQ (doesn’t matter for me, because i use fire).
at the moment the information for international users is a bit sparse, ’cause in the US you can get movie listings and stuff like that. nonetheless i was able to get a review of the movie i’m going to see tonight (“can you get me a review of ray?”). the smartypant also reminds you of different stuff (“remind me to go offline” “when?” “in 30 minutes”).
you really should give it a go, because it’s hard to describe…

like it says in the faq smarterchild only works with AIM or ICQ, and not with MSN.
so you might want to get fire (for os x) or trillinan (for peecee) and try again.

smarterchild is a product from conversagent, and i don’t think that it’s virus-laden.
anyways, it’s best to get a decent virus/ad-ware-scanner, then you’re on the safe side (i seem to be repeating myself…)

smarterchild is fun but it is a virus created by hackers i had smarter child but then i deleted it because my computer kept freezing and internet wouldnt work so dont add him and if you do want a virus his msn is smarterchild@hotmail.com and some times if you do add him you wont get him you have to download a bunch of stuff so you go though a big bunch of downloads just for a stupid virus so dont ever add him parents say its ok because his name is smarter child there wrong the more you talk with smarter child the more you get problems if you add him and ask who created him he will tell you and search those people up and it will show that they are computer genuises but they are actually hackers

Is smarter child really a virus? I didn’t have to download a bunch of stuff. I added him on MSN and it never downloaded anything on my msn, but. Just to be on the safe side i didn’t take that general questions stuff. I am in the middle of trusting him and not trusting him. If he is a virus, SOMEONE HURRY AND TELL NOW!

i believe this is a virus, its not a machine its a program on a server, and its sending codes to your computer, viruses can be stored in anything, videos to instant messages, hell you can get viruses on your phones from pictures being sent around! I kno hackers that hack people through msn, and a program that talks to people on msn can have hackers behind it, maybe not talking, but they can still be there. And yes, Smarterchild if asked wil say he is not spyware, or a virus, but if you made something like this would you program it to tell people that it is dangerous to your computer!

smarterchild is not a machine, it is a program created by persons. and it could be used as a scam/ hack program to contain information on persons. Every program/ machine or what ever you wish to call it- is created and ran by persons that are real, and are monitored frequently by these persons- if not then the program could not work :D

Well, I ran a netstat on Smarterchild, and it came up with no IP, where is the server IP then?
They must have re-routed it through a proxy to avoid anyone taking down their server. Well I’m not impressed, they obviously have something to hide. I, like the devolopers, am a computer whizz, and I’m concerned with the way it knew certain things about me that I’ve never told it. How am I so sure? I log all chats, I looked through to find the info, and it wasn’t there. Co-incidence?
Stay away from this guys, you’ll thank me in the long run.
P.S. He isn’t even that smart anyway lol :P

Haha, what?! These guys can’t be serious. SmarterChild cannot/does not/ will not give you viruses. People are so goddamned gullible these days, not to mention know NOTHING about computers. Besides that, It’s quite IMPOSSIBLE to recieve a virus through a simple MSN instant message. Yes, you can get viruses from being dumb, and clicking on a link, or being DUMB and clicking on an attachment, but that’s a given and people should know the difference.
Yeah, maybe all the logs ARE saved, and kept on company record. You can only expect this. So don’t talk to strangers/machines about your personal life! But the point is, it’s not a person. It’s a machine! And it does not give your computer viruses… Get it?
